Little Knife Gas PlantPetro-Hunt is owner and operator of the Little Knife Gas Processing Plant located west of Killdeer, North Dakota. The Little Knife Gas Plant processes gas produced from the Little Knife Field, as well as gas gathered from third parties who operate oil and gas wells in the Williston Basin area, within McKenzie, Billings and Dunn counties.
Construction on the plant began in the fall of 1977 and was owned by the Gulf Oil Corporation. The plant was acquired by Petro-Hunt in July 1992 from Gulf’s successor, Chevron. The plant has been upgraded to use state-of-the-art equipment.
The plant currently processes approximately 18 MMCFD, consisting of both sweet and sour gas and has the capacity to process 27 MMCFD. Little Knife is a natural gas processing facility consisting of gas sweetening, liquid extraction, sulfur recovery and tail gas incineration. Products from the plant consist of natural gas (methane and ethane), propane, butane, natural gasoline liquids and elemental sulfur.
